    YOUR OPINION COUNTS

“People have told me a million things in my life – and especially my career as a model, like, ‘Oh she’s too pretty, she’s too tan, she’s too short, she’s too tall, she’s not skinny enough,’ – and it’s crazy! You can’t listen to any of it and you have to remember who you are, what you do, and what makes you happy.”

    Diet, Exercise & Lifestyle

Everything in moderation. I want to enjoy little pieces and eat what I love to eat.

    Taylor Hill’s Food Diary

    Favorite Food:
I love Japanese food and Chinese food and, oh my gosh, I would die if someone told me I couldn’t eat it… and pizza. I mean every once in a while.

    Sweet Or Salty?
I love anything with salt and vinegar or pickles. I’m a salty person. I saw these already cracked pistachios at the airport in the salt and vinegar flavor, and I was like, Oh, there we go. That’s for me. It’s a healthier snack that you can take on the go. It just hits that salty craving for me.

    Favorite Take-Away:
[…] I love comfort food and things that remind me of my childhood. One of my favorite things to make at home is a roasted red pepper soup that sort of emulates a tomato soup, but it’s creamier and zestier. I put tomato paste in it so it still has that underlying sweetness, but I like the red pepper version more now as an adult. I make that with a grilled cheese. I get these slices of goat’s milk cheese from Trader Joe’s [and put them] on sourdough bread and it feels like such a treat.

    Pre-VS-Diet
I eat 3,000 calories a day before the VS show. Three thousand! There’s no way you look like that and don’t eat. You would die. Victoria’s Secret girls are like athletes. We’re like Olympians. We’re strong.

    Exercise

    Workout Routine and Lifestyle

I grew up in Colorado going snowboarding and horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, climbing trees, being barefoot, swimming in the pond.

I like to workout all year long just because I love being fit and working out I think it’s really fun, but specifically for the summer season I really focus on toning those target areas, like the abs and the butt and your arms are really important as well.

I couldn’t do what I do if I wasn’t physically fit because you just have more energy, you’re able to do longer hour days or run across an airport and try to catch a flight that’s my motivation to stay fit – it’s just my lifestyle.

    Pre-VS Workout Routine

We do a lot of muscle isolation exercises where you do slow, controlled movements for certain areas of your body that you’re trying to target. It’s hard because you have a lot more little muscles than you think you do. When you activate them, it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life. My whole body was quivering. I can’t control my shaking; it’s crazy.

I did a lot of muscle isolation workouts with my personal trainer, Lauren Duhamel. We incorporated resistance bands, ankle weights, a lot of floor work, Pilates style, without the machine. It was all about really concentrating on stability and connecting my mind to my body.

    Favorite Exercise

I like to go for a run in the morning, but if I’m not doing that, I love Pilates. I go to a studio in SoHo.

Walking with (my German (Belgish) Shepard) Salem! He’s only a year and a half old, so he has energy. Sometimes we’ll go for a run together, maybe two or three miles. I’m pretty slow, to be honest. He’s walking, and I’m running.

    Feel Good Exercise

Reformer Pilates, or any sort of physical movement. It releases endorphins and is a positive brain boost that automatically makes you feel better. I also think it creates this funny placebo effect in the way you think about yourself. You feel better if you know you’ve been exercising and treating your body well. If I’ve been feeling off, I like to break out of that mood with some form of movement.

    Travel Essentials

These are great [Bala Bands], and you can get them from anywhere. I have a couple different types from different brands. I just throw them in my bag. They don’t add any extra weight to my suitcase, but they can add so much to a training session.

    Skin Care Routine

    Self-Care Routine

On days that I’m working, mornings are great because my make-up gets done on site so I don’t have to do it. I don’t shower in the mornings, I like to shower at night and wash my face to get any make-up off and then finish with a really good moisturiser, brush my teeth and go to bed.

In the winter I definitely hydrate more and use more eye masks and face masks.

    Overall Skin Care Routine

I didn’t really get into skincare until signing with Lancome.

I literally die if I don’t use Lancôme’s Energy de Vie serum, toning gel, and cream. They smell so good and feel cool on your skin. People don’t know about it and I’m shocked. I’m like, ‘You haven’t tried this? No one knows? This stuff is amazing!

    Morning Skin Care Routine

After washing my face with a cleanser, I use the Energie de Vie toner and follow with the Milky Lotion in the morning. At night, I’ll use the sleeping mask from the range instead. Makeup-wise, I really just keep to my three essentials: mascara, concealer and lip balm, and I’m ready to head out

    Favorite Cream

This is my favorite moisturizer [Avène Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream]. I found out about it from a makeup artist on set about five years ago. I was working with them for three days straight, and they put a little bit of this on my face every single day. Usually, I start to break out or get dry by the third day because someone’s using products on me that I’m not used to. By the end of the third day, I was like, “What is that magical stuff?”

    Acne Prone Skin (Hacks)

I’ve always had a bit of a fight back and forth with acne. I had it when I was a teenager and went through puberty. I did all kinds of facials and have gotten all sorts of treatments. But as you grow up, you start to realize there are more important things in life than stressing over acne. When I was younger, I was so insecure and hated it and would cry over it. I totally understand that feeling, but I have to say, as you get older, it does get easier. Honestly, it doesn’t bother me anymore. I get a zit and I don’t even notice.

I struggle with acne! It’s a constant battle. My favorite cleanser is Cetaphil because it’s good for sensitive skin. [And I really count on vitamin E] I take the vitamin, pop it open, and apply the gel. It helps with my acne scars.

    Make Up

    Basic Face Routine

When I’m not working, I just wear BB cream, mascara, and lip balm.

    Eyelashes

I think one thing I learned that’s pretty fun is to heat up your eyelash curler with your blow-dryer. Then you check if it’s hot to the touch and if it’s not scalding, then you curl your eyelashes while it’s still warm.

    Eyes

Using Scotch tape to clean up stray glitter. They’ll tape under your eye when they put the glitter eye shadow, and Pat McGrath’s been doing the same around the mouth when she does her glitter lip, too.

    Eyebrows

I pluck the middle just so I don’t grow a unibrow and they don’t get too out of control. For the most part, though, I just let them do their thing. I asked my mom when I was younger if she would wax them and she told me absolutely not. She told me I looked like Brooke Shields from Blue Lagoon, and I was like ‘Who’s that?’ and she made me google her. She was like ‘You look like this, so don’t ever touch your eyebrows!’ so I listened.

    Eyeliner

I do a lot of my own makeup for red carpets and events. My go-to look is a cat eye with liquid liner—I can do it in five seconds. Don’t ask me to do it on someone else, though!

    Lips

I am obsessed with this [Rhode Peptide Lip Tint – Espresso]. I’m a big texture person. How a lip product feels when you initially apply it is important. This one’s creamy and has more of a buttery consistency. I love that it’s not sticky, but it’s still shiny and gives that glossy effect. The tint is perfect because I don’t have to carry around a lip liner and three lip products in my bag. Maybe in the morning I’ll use a lip liner with this on top, but throughout the day this is all I need for touch-ups. I specifically like it in espresso, which I’m currently wearing. I love warmer nudes and deeper colors for my skin tone.

    Skin

A good concealer is always a good thing to have in your bag.

    Body

I love coconut oil for my body, all over. I’ll even use it as a face mask some mornings, if I need extra hydration.

    VS-Takeaway

I learned so many from doing Victoria’s Secret. For example, body makeup was such a huge part of the show. Charlotte Tilbury herself was such a major part of the experience, too. She did the show makeup for so long, and then for her to create her own products and brand was amazing. Charlotte’s style, that ‘Supermodel Glow’ you recognize on the Runway, was all her vision. Her methods were always about natural beauty, healthy skin, and that signature glow. My favorite thing from the VS Show era was this formula that is now her Super Model Body product — that’s what we used on set, and continued to use once she made it into a consumer product. For everyday, I brush it down the center of my legs as a highlighter.

    Travel Essentials

I love the Advanced Genefique Sensitive Dual Concentrate because it refreshes my skin and keeps it hydrated even though it is super lightweight. I also always carry hand sanitiser with me.

    Hair Care

My hair is like a lion’s mane! I just put it up. And I’ll use plain rubber bands if I can’t find anything else.

I have really wavy hair, and it tends to be dry because of that, so I use curl shampoo. Right now I’m using Salma Hayek’s Nuance Blue Agave Curls and Waves shampoo and conditioner.
