    Chanel Iman’s Food Diary

    BIGGEST FOOD TEMPTATION:
My kids and I love waffles. If I could make them every morning, I would. It’s highly requested in my house. I can make them very quickly and easily at home with this waffle-maker. I really wouldn’t know how to cook them myself otherwise.

    GO TO MEALS:
I love cooking. This skillet is the perfect size to make a full meal for my family. I can cook pretty much anything I’d get at a restaurant on this skillet. My favorite things to make are chicken, steaks, and pastas.

    BEAUTIFYING DRINK
    Protein shakes.

    SUPPLEMENTS:
I should take more vitamins. I’m trying my hardest to drink lots of water this year, and I want to get in better shape and tighten and tone my body. So I’ve cut back on a lot of sugars and juices and I’m just trying to stay focused on my goal.

    Exercise

    Workout Routine and Lifestyle

I work out four times a week, an hour each day. I usually run for 30 minutes and then do 30 minutes of cardio and weight lifting, or I’ll go to my trainer and he helps me tighten and tone my body. I’ve already lost a lot of weight—at this point, I’m just trying to maintain it and get back to my normal body.

I’m really focused when I’m working out, so I don’t really listen to music. I like to listen to music after, because it’s like, ‘Yeah! I finished! Let’s party!’

    Running

I love running, and that also helped me to have a clear mind. It’s not really so much about my weight, it’s more so about tightening my skin. I don’t mind being a little bit bigger, it’s just that I want my skin to be nice and toned.

    Mediation

I think that everybody should take time for themselves and meditate. Every day I try to just take a moment to myself and go outside and meditate. It’s just quiet time for myself.

    Skin Care Routine

    Overall Skin Care Routine

My beauty routine is very simple – I use a cleansing gel, toner, sea scrub and moisturiser from Christina Chin. I also see her for facials once or twice a month.

    Evening Routine

When it comes to products and doing pretty much anything to my skin, I keep things very simple. I cleanse my face with Dove soap and use a little bit of Pond’s moisturizer. I’ll use some sunscreen if it’s hot.

    Evening Routine

I usually wash my face while I’m taking a shower using the same Dove soap, and moisturize again with Pond’s.

    Body

On an average day, I spend about 45 minutes from start to finish, but it’s not all about my face, it’s also about moisturizing my entire body.

My favorite oil is Rodin. It’s amazing and it just makes the body so beautiful and glowing. I use it on my face too—I use it everywhere. Right after a bath, I rub it all over my body and it gets me into that zone of going to bed and sleeping well.

A lot of people sent me belly masks when I was pregnant to help with stretch marks and loose skin, but I don’t really use those types of things. Having kids, I don’t really have time for masks—there’s not much I can do in that two-hour window of their afternoon nap. So I have to think about what it is that I really want, and taking care of my mind is more important. Plus, I can get done all the things I can’t do when my kids are awake.

    Make Up

    Basic Face Routine

At any given time, you will find my Anastasia Brow Kit and Diorshow Mascara in my purse. I also carry around my Cinema Secret’s Foundation Palette–I can’t live without it. Keeping my lips and skin moisturized is super important, so I always make sure to have a lip balm and moisturizer on hand.I always like a nice glow stick and highlighter. It’s so hot, especially in New York. Tinted moisturizer is good, with a little bit of a base to it instead of foundation.

    Travel Make-Up Routine

Just having some mascara and concealer and my eyebrow kit and lip balm always does the job for me. But I find that on long flights my skin gets really dry, so I make sure that I travel with a little moisturizer to put on just before I get off the flight.

    Brows

I don’t wear much makeup, but I believe a strong brow can make your face. This is one of the things I have to have in my makeup kit. It’s the right shade and doesn’t ever looked too drawn on.

No matter how many beauty products I try, I always come back to the Anastasia Brow Kit. I also recently started experimenting with Clinique’s Bottom Lash Mascara–I have tiny bottom lashes, and the micro wand really gets in there and makes my lashes look fuller.

    Lips

I’ve never really been into dark lips. Sometimes makeup artists give me dark lips, and since I’m a model I have to work with it, but I prefer nude lips. I love pairing a natural-looking lip with a dark smoky eye.

    Skin

I was taught early on to always bring my own foundation. It is the worst thing ever to show up on set and work with a makeup artist that doesn’t have your color, being forced to be photographed with bad skin.

    Anti-Acne

My auntie always told me to put toothpaste on my zits, and it works! Back in the day when I would break out during fashion week, I would wash my face with cold water and add some steam before applying a dot of toothpaste.

    Nail Care

It’s funny because the ladies that do my nails know Sugar Daddy is my color. It’s a very natural shade but with a hint of pink. I think it’s perfect. It works when I’m on set for a shoot and also goes with anything I wear day to day. I find that it doesn’t chip very much, too.

I like natural-looking nail polish colors–Essie’s San Tropez is my favorite shade. [Once] I used to be into fun nail art, but now I go for basic, clean manicures.

    Hair Care

I carry a mini flatiron with me because the ends of my hair tend to get really curly. [Because] I prefer my hair to be straight and sleek.

I usually wrap my hair at night and I always use silk pillows so that there’s no breakage. Product-wise, I use Pantene or L’Oréal shampoo and conditioner, and a little bit of hair wax on the ends.

The best style is braids for the summer because it’s really cute and it stays in place. You don’t have to worry about something being too tight and it lasts all day.

    Signature Scent

I always have Chanel Mademoiselle on hand–it’s my signature scent.
