    A LESSON GIVING AND TAKING

“I’m an advocate for if you take something, you have to give something back, and I think Raw Spirit shares that philosophy. I love that it gives back to the communities they partner with. It’s just truly a pure of hearted company.”

    Diet Philosophy

    Then VS Now

“I stay away from carbs, salt and sugar. I have been eating a lot of protein and vegetables instead, and drinking lots of water.”

“I am more educated about it now. When you’re younger, you don’t know as much. As a teenager and early 20s, I just didn’t care about it as much. It’s not that I didn’t know, I just didn’t care. But in the business, so many people have knowledge about wellness and beauty, so you pick up things along the way. After becoming a mom, it’s almost more important to me to instill healthy eating habits in my child. My parents were so good at it. I grew up learning how to eat healthy. I would like to do that for my kid, and also teach her to take care of the environment and be conscious about her footprint on this planet.”

“It’s a balance between eating what’s good for you, doing what’s good for you, having fun, and living life. It’s about taking care of yourself and not overthinking everything.”

    WHAT THE HEALTH DOCUMENTARY

“You need to watch all documentaries with a grain of salt. They all have an agenda. But I found this one to be so eye-opening. I learned so much about the big industries. You don’t realize how corrupt it is. I always knew processed food was bad, but now I really know.”

“I will never eat bacon ever again. I’m put off by it. I will stand by that. I will never have a hot dog again in my life. I’m going to think a lot more now about where my food comes from — the egg and chicken, how it’s being raised and fed.”

    Behati’s Food Diary

The perfect start in the day:
“Typically, I like to get up and have coffee with almond milk. I love breakfast. If I make it, I’ll make avocado toast with two eggs on the side. I like to do oatmeal with berries and honey. If I go out, I love eggs Benedict or an omelette.”

    My favorite healthy snack is:
“I love dark chocolate – I could eat it ’til I puke.”

    Once was enough:
“I tried a juice cleanse once, and by the third day, I wanted to kill everyone. I honestly don’t even think it’s healthy. It’s not good for you to just drink juice. Like, if you detox for one or two days, fine, but a 10- or 14-day juice cleanse? You have headaches, and I was in the worst moods. I couldn’t do it. Starving.”

    Exercise

    Workout Routine

“Usually I work out two times a week when it’s not the show.”

“When you pump up your exercise, it makes you feel better and makes you look better, so you do a better job. It’s mental, too.”

“Recently, I’ve been doing Body by Simone. It’s not as dance-y as most dance-cardio classes. You do a little section of dance and then do a lot of floor legwork. It has band work for your arms and targets every area.”

“My workouts are usually scheduled out. People can’t just come whenever, so I have to alter my mood to the workout I’m doing. If I’m really committed, I’ll do it three or four times a week. If I’m not doing anything, I’ll do it twice a week, or at least once a week if I’m really being lazy — even if it’s just going to the beach and walking.”

“I try to do Pilates when I can all year around and I also like to swim a lot. I also have a trainer that kicks my butt when it’s needed.”

    WO Routine Pre Victoria’s Secret

“A month before the show, I try to get into a routine of eating healthier, going to Pilates more — doing everything more.”

“Oh, my God, you don’t know by now how I prepare? Come on. I work out. I eat healthy. I have a trainer. We do weight training, and we do a lot of cardio. We do some Pilates. I do yoga, and I try and cut out artificial sugar and the carbs. I also got a Ling facial here in New York, an oxygen one.”

    Summer Workouts and Vibes

“For summer, I definitely love doing stuff outside. I love beach volleyball if you’re close to something like that. It’s really fun; you can do it with a lot of friends.”

“I’ll paddle board, swim in the ocean, roll in the sand, soak up the sun, eat good food, be with friends and family and go fishing with my dad.”

“If I’m in N.Y.C., I love walking around during the summer. It’s hot, but I love it. I enjoy seeing everyone out. New York is such a fun place. The energy is so amazing here during the summer.”

    Yoga

“I like to start the day with yoga. It’s the best way of moving into the day.”

“I love yoga, and love to stretch — that’s always been a part of my workout routine.”

    Skin Care Routine

    Skin Care Tips: Morning

“For my morning skin-care routine, I’ll start by washing my face. I use a nice eye cream, and then the essence. If it’s daytime, I’ll do an oil-free SPF. Sometimes I’ll add a BB cream to get a little color. I like to curl my lashes because I don’t always put on mascara.”

“After waking up, I wash my face using Luzern Pure Cleansing Creme. This is a brand whose ingredients are all cultivated in the Swiss Alps, so it’s organic and not drying. Then I follow up with Georgia Louise’s Hydrating Rose Water, which is only available in the U.K. right now! I moisturize with Luzern lotion, and if I need extra freshening up, I’ll add with a mist of Santa Maria Novella’s Rose Water. It instantly makes you look awake, which is nice. I always make sure to finish with SPF 50, but I don’t use any brand in particular. I’m trying to find one that’s not too oily. I usually treat myself to a monthly facial, but I also love masks. The Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask is one of my all-time favorites. And for body lotion, I usually use Nivea or just plain coconut oil. Lately I’ve been in need of a hint of color, though, so I’ve been using Victoria’s Secret Beach Sexy Self-Tanning Lotion!”

    The Occasional Breakout

“If I do get breakouts, I’ll pick my face. I always tell myself not to. The struggle is real. Sometimes, it’s drinking enough water but all of us always feel like we can drink more. And after I had Dusty, getting motivated to get back into the gym. I’ve found that if I sit around and don’t do anything, I get antsy. I know the minute I start doing it, I’ll start loving it.”

“Tea tree oil really works for me.”

“I like to put a sulfur mask on the actual pimple, and not all over. I’ll sleep with it overnight.” (Nordstrom ‘EradiKate’ Acne Treatment)

    Make Up

    Basic Face Routine

“I don’t really wear much makeup on a daily basis—I keep it minimal. I wish I could give myself a cat eye, but I fail every time! Instead, I keep it simple and natural. I love using RMS Beauty Living Luminizer, CoverGirl mascara, and By Terry’s Baume de Rose with a bit of Victoria’s Secret Lip Sheen on top. If I have any redness, I use RMS Un-Cover Up to conceal it. I really love fragrance, though, so I always spray my favorite, even when I’m not wearing makeup. I usually mix it up between Victoria by Victoria’s Secret or their new scent, Angels Only.”

    Glam Face Routine

“If I’m going out at night, I might use a pencil to make my eye a little darker and smokier, but I usually just stick to my normal daytime makeup. If it’s a special event, I get to work with a lot of different hair and makeup professionals, so thankfully I’m in their hands! I honestly can’t pick a favourite person I like to work with—that would be like choosing a favourite child! The one thing I do prefer is to keep my hair down and parted in the middle with [a] beachy texture. The Oribe spray is really perfect for that. I don’t change up my fragrance at night, I’ll just reapply some more. If I’m going out, I think I’d probably stick with Angels Only. Plus, a good manicure and pedicure is essential! Right now, I’m wearing Essie Wicked with my favorite Chanel top coat, and Chanel Blue Rebel on my toes.”

    Lips

“Chanel makes an incredible red lip, and Tarte makes the best nude colors! I also love Giorgio Armani lipsticks – the Rouge d’Armani.”

“There’s this lip balm and it’s more of an ointment called Zam-Buk. It’s green and it smells like medicine but like, as a kid, I would remember my mom always having it around and on her. It’s something you just grow up with; the smell is terrible. But I miss it because it really hydrates. It takes me back.”

    Nail Care

“I typically don’t wear nail polish, as I like a natural look.”

    Fragrance

“It’s overkill when you put too much fragrance on. It’s the worst. Not sexy, and it makes me want to puke. I’m nauseous. Know what I mean? Your game’s off.”

    Hair Care

    Basics

“Like my makeup, I keep my hair simple. It’s either down or in a ponytail. I use Aveda to wash, and sometimes I’ll spray with Redken Nature’s Rescue Sea Spray. If my hair ever feels dry, I’ll use a tiny bit of MoroccanOil. If I’m working back-to-back, I’ll shampoo daily. If not, I do it every other day. I don’t use it all the time, but my favorite product is Oribe Dry Texture Spray. It’s a dry shampoo and a texturizer in one, so it’s easy to use.”

“Khlorane has this mango oil UV protectant that you put in your hair when you’re in the sun surfing so that it doesn’t dry it out. I tend to only color my hair once a year because I just like lighter streaks, and then, when I go in the sun, my hair naturally just goes lighter anyway. I’ve seen Harry Josh; I’ve seen Lena Ott in Soho. I’ve seen a bunch of different people.”

5 Inspirational Quotes By Behati Prinsloo

    Expectations

“I have no expectations. Not in a bad way, but I’ve learned that you can’t plan ahead. I live day by day and see what happens.”

    Style Inspo

“My ultimate style pin up is a tough question because my own style is influenced by so many sources. From Bianca Jagger to Kate Moss to Julie Christie. I love how they are always themselves and it never looks too ‘done.”

“I love Marilyn Monroe, Jimi Hendrix, and Kurt Cobain. I really do. It doesn’t matter what style they had – whether it was pin-up or whatever – it just worked for them, and it looked effortless even though it was fabulous. I like anything that just looks effortless.”

“I love Versace; I love Donatella’s vision! It still has that ’90s supermodel vibe.”

    High Waisted

“Guys are so not into high-waisted things. I love high-waisted jeans. We all think that high-waisted things are flattering and awesome and beautiful and we’re rocking it, and guys are always like, ‘Ugh, she’s wearing those high-waisted pants.’”

    Beach Vibes

“The beach is definitely where I feel most at home. It’s my oxygen. I forget how much I need it sometimes when I’m away working.”

    Closet Organization

“My closet is pretty organized, I’m proud to say. It’s set up by type of clothes and then by color. And then, of course, there’s the rotating from spring/summer to fall/winter.”
