    Diet, Exercise & Lifestyle

    Diet and Personality

Carla Bruni talks openly about her addictive personality that also played a huge role in her nutrition, “I suffered from every addiction, I began with sugar, very, very assiduously, a big fan of sugar, big shots of sugar. I must have drunk, I don’t know 30 or 40 Coca-Colas a day? I didn’t eat a normal meal, I only ate Pulmoll lozenges. Five boxes.”

Nowadays Carla focuses on eating healthy and nutritious meals, even more so after she got diagnosed with breast cancer. “I was diagnosed with breast cancer 4 years ago,” the statement began. “Surgery, radiotherapy, hormone therapy, I went through the usual treatment for this type of cancer.”

    Exercise

Carla Bruni takes working out very seriously. She works out at least 2 hours every day. She is often seen with her husband running through Paris. “I have a silhouette and style, perhaps, but I make endless efforts to stay thin: two hours of sport a day, the bar, the elliptical, a little Pilates,” she said, adding: “Beauty is also a constraint.”

“I come from a family of athletes, everyone is involved in sports, I do about an hour of cardio or 40 minutes followed by Pilates with an “extraordinary” discipline,” she comments. “In general I am doing absolutely everything; Xtend barre (a discipline that combines classical dance, pilates and cardio), bodybuilding, swimming, walking, skiing, running… and especially the elliptical.”

    Beauty Secrets

    1. The Perfect Eyelash

“On my eyes I use any dark shadow and blend it out softly. And I like Lancôme Doll Lashes Mascara very much—it makes your eyes very long.”

    2. Blush

“I like very natural cheek blush. I like cream blushes, but they’re not that easy to use. They’re always better when you have a makeup artist.”

    3. Foundation

“When I don’t have such a great makeup artist around, I go very, very soft on my skin. When you’re 15 years old, you can cover yourself with makeup, but when you’re past 30, you can be lighter with your hands. It’s better to concentrate on having good skin. For instance, instead of using foundation, I would use a BB or CC cream. I like Erborian’s CC Cream—delicious smell. You spread it all over, it unifies your complexion but doesn’t cover you up. Maybe on the nose, I would use a little blot powder to avoid a sweaty look in my T-zone and a very good moisturizer underneath.“

    4. Juicy Lips

“I like a very light fresh gloss instead of heavy lipstick. I don’t wear peachy tones, but I am wearing an apple red Lipglass from MAC, which is my favourite. It is perfect for lips and as a powder on my cheeks. The new YSL Tatouage Matte Lip Stain is fantastic, I’m wearing that today.”

    5. Grow Your Eyelashes and Eyebrows

“When I was modelling, I had brows like Marlene Dietrich for about five years. I’m so glad they’ve grown back. I used RevitaLash on them—you do that on brows and eyelashes and it really grows back. I can only use it once or twice a week, and even with that little amount, it really works. Then I’ll fill them in a little at the ends.”

    6. French Pharmacy Favourites

“I like pharmacy creams with not too much smell. Ones with simple textures that are still very moisturizing, like Avène or La Roche Posay. Preferably ones that are deeply moisturizing because my skin gets really dry. I don’t go for gel or serums or stuff like that, instead, I use very rich but simple creams with oil. I like the ones from La Roche-Posay. It’s a French brand — it’s very good. I especially like the Lipikar ones. It moisturizes for hours and hours.”

    7. Face Masks

“Before I go to a big event, maybe I’ll do a little mask. I like those Clarins patches you can put under the eyes. I’ll do a little detox mask, and after will follow it with a clay one”

    8. Steam Baths

“Maybe a little steam bath. Borghese is a wonderful brand, great products. It is very old-school but it smells so wonderful.”

    9. Face Massage

“I have sensitive skin, so what I like is facial massage. It gives you a real glow, gets rid of puffiness, dryness, and it brings oxygen to your skin. My personal massage therapist lives in Paris—if you come to Paris I’ll tell you.’”

    10. Relax

“At the end of the night, I take a hot bath with some nice perfumes or oil. Lavender I love, as well as santal, and musk. I try to put a little essential oil and put a little arnica and relax. And maybe have a cold beer—in my bath. [Laughs]”

    11. Stemcell Therapy and Skin Treatments

“I do stem-cell therapy for many years now. It helps my skin a lot. I also get laser treatments and I do weekly peelings.”

    Skin Care

“I am very, very casual about makeup and hairstyling in my personal life. But I love skincare. I love scrubbing, cleaning and moisturizing. There is this dark soap with olive oil from Morocco that you can find in the pharmacies. It comes with a special glove, and you cleanse and scrub at the same time. It’s even better if you use it with steam.”

    Recap

Carla Bruni is a true fashion icon and one of the most inspiring high fashion models of the 90s. Carla speaks very openly about her problems and personal issues and is one of the most transparent models in the fashion industry.

“Fashion isn’t very nostalgic, but on occasion, the young guard feels inspired by us. It’s pleasant because it gives meaning to the work that you’ve done. Being a model is such an odd job, and it doesn’t last long, so much of it is about youth. So it’s great when your work can become part of this larger story that we’re all writing together.”

5 Inspirational Quotes By Carla Bruni

    Love VS Desire

“Love lasts a long time but burning desire lasts two to three weeks.”

    Believe

“To me, the most poetic and intelligent way to bring up a subject is by showing very simply who you are and what you believe in.”

    Acknowledgement

“Everyone needs acknowledgement. When we’re kids, we need it from our parents. If you don’t get love from your family, you’re destroyed inside.”

You Are Not The Opinion Of Others

“Now I’m not going to go, “Oh my God, what are people saying about me?” I had a choice to be a student and not become a model, and becoming a doctor was another one of my dreams. I had a choice between not becoming a singer or becoming a songwriter and writing behind the scenes; nobody would have seen me writing songs for other people. [And] I had the choice of not marrying my man; we could have just been hidden lovers, but I couldn’t cope with it. I had these choices to do all these things, so I’m not going to cry over a life which has been really lucky.”

    Truth…

“But I’m very careful with opinions because I never know what the truth is. When I read what the press says about me, I don’t really believe what it says about other people.”
